Building Confidence Through Birth Education

At Birth Center Stone Oak, we believe informed parents make confident decisions during life's most significant moments. Our Childbirth & Infant Care Education programs prepare you thoroughly for labor, delivery, and the important early days of parenthood. As San Antonio's longest-standing birth center, we've guided hundreds of families through natural births since 2012, building our foundation on transparency, personalized care, and evidence-based education. Our classes are taught by the same licensed and certified professional midwives who may assist with your birth, creating a connected educational experience that prepares you for your journey ahead.

Our educational approach focuses on building strength through knowledge. We teach you what to expect and help you understand the natural process of birth, comfort options, and how to speak up for your birth preferences. Our education stands out because of our commitment to complete care with clarity. For birth center clients, these valuable classes come included in your all-inclusive package, because we see education as a core part of prenatal care, not an extra service. For community members, we offer fair pricing with flexible payment options including HSA/FSA acceptance and monthly payment plans. As a locally owned, family-operated, and woman-led facility, we understand how important access to birth education is. Our telehealth options make learning possible even when you can't attend in person. If you're planning a birth at our center, a hospital, or home, our educational programs create the foundation for a positive birth experience where you feel informed, respected, and supported. Infant CPR and Choking Class

Every parent and caregiver should learn the life-saving skills taught in our Infant CPR and Choking Class. This hands-on session provides essential emergency response training for the first months of parenthood. Labor has a rhythm to it. It doesn’t always follow a clock, and it definitely doesn’t ask permission before it gets intense. When people ask us how to cope without medication, we usually say the same thing first. It’s less about mastering techniques and more about learning how to move with what your body is already doing.

One of the biggest surprises about birth is that it rarely moves in a straight line. Contractions may build steadily for hours, then suddenly space out. Progress might feel strong and consistent, and then things seem to pause. This can be frustrating, especially if you expected labor to unfold in a predictable pattern.

Prenatal appointments are not just about checking boxes. They build a pattern over time. Your midwife tracks how your pregnancy is progressing, how your body is responding, how your baby is growing, and how you’re feeling emotionally. The schedule has an intention behind it.

A new baby changes the whole house. Adults can usually understand what’s coming, even when it feels emotional. Toddlers and young children experience it differently. They notice the growing belly, the conversations, and the shift in attention, even if they don’t have the words to explain how they feel.

Short answer? No. You can have a beautiful birth without one. Longer answer? Many families find a birth plan incredibly helpful.

At Birth Center Stone Oak, we believe education is part of gentle care. When families understand how their bodies work in pregnancy and labor, they tend to walk into birth with calm and clarity instead of fear. Our lending library is a quiet extension of that belief. It is there so you can take learning home, sit with it in your own time, and return to it as often as you need.

Aromatherapy is the mindful use of essential oils to support the body and mind. Because scent reaches the part of the brain that processes stress and emotion, it can shift your mood almost instantly, like how lavender can encourage slow, deep breaths or citrus can bring a quick lift of energy.

Sleep is one of those things that feels simple until you’re pregnant. Suddenly it’s harder to get, but more important than ever. Your body needs the downtime to build, repair, and grow a whole new person. While you rest, your baby develops, your blood flow increases, and your hormones find balance.
